Duties:
- Responsibility for Physical Facilities Operations and Maintenance departments of the campus; including skilled trades, heating plant operators, custodial, grounds and landscape, in-house labor pool, and external contractors.
- Manage Physical Facilities Work Control process. Receive requests, investigate requested work for scope, priority, and estimate resources required and schedule. Assign campus personnel responsible for the work and communicate with customers. Track and review work orders and associated costs of the work.
- Works with the Director and Physical Facilities staff to ensure compliance of regulatory codes, reporting requirements, training, and safe work practices.
- Provides leadership for exemplary customer service and efficient use of resources. Acts as Director when assigned.
- Provides assistance to the Director in managing campus projects and process improvement efforts.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Business or a related field.
- Knowledge of construction, operations and maintenance principles and methods. Experience supervising operations and maintenance personnel or similar employee groups.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of university community members.
- Ability to read, interpret and communicate technical materials - service manuals, blueprints, sketches and diagrams and technical specifications.
- Ability to plan, schedule and supervise the activity of others.
- Knowledge of conflict resolution strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain a variety of records and prepare reports using computerized and manual systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in higher education facilities or multi-building campus environments.
- Extensive experience with computerized work order systems * CMMS.
- Experience with district utility systems and infrastructure.
- Licensure as Professional Engineer, Architect, Certified Educational Facilities Professional, Certified Energy Manager, or similar credentials.
